Internal Medicine

So, I started my internal medicine rotation a month ago. Everyday, I go into the hospital, see patients, and do rounds with the residents and attending. I don't really do a whole lot as far as procedures and such but I have learned so much from the attendings that it makes up for it. Everyone at this hospital seems to really care about teaching which is great for the students. On my first week I got to see my patient get a cardiac catheterization which is where they thread a wire into someone's coronary arteries and place balloons or stents to open up clogged arteries. I went to watch the procedure and the cardiologist, who didn't even know who I was, sat down with me after the procedure and explained everything to me...it was really awesome. On the weekends, I have been hanging out with some friends doing stuff in the city. A few weekends ago, it was my friend Ruth's birthday and we celebrated by taking a boat cruise at night in the Hudson River. It was so cool getting to see the city from that vantage point. Last weekend, we walked all around Manhattan including going to Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, and Times Square and then on Sunday there was a huge street fair on the next block up from my apartment that was really cool with lots of food and booths set up from local shops selling all sorts of things. This weekend, my friends and I walked around Prospect Park on Friday which was really pretty and then on Saturday went shopping at an outlet mall in New Jersey. Yesterday, I did some chores and then my roommate and I ended up going to our downstairs neighbors apartment and hanging out in the backyard for awhile which was really nice. Enjoy some photos from the past few weeks!! View of the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridges from the Southstreet Seaport in Manhattan.

My week off :)

So, I just finished my Ob/GYN rotation last Friday and had this whole week off before starting my Internal Medicine rotation on Monday. My roommate went home this week so I got to explore the city by myself this week. I went to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The Met, the Central Park Zoo, Chelsea Market, Eataly, and several other places while just wandering through the city. I had a great time this week and love that I live in this awesome city!!! Enjoy some of the pictures from this week. Some of my other pictures from the week can also be found on Facebook. Pictures

This post is mostly going to be pictures from the last week. Over Easter weekend, my dad came up here for work and we were able to hang out a bit while he was up here. We walked around Central Park and down to Rockefeller Center on the first day and then the next day we explored Lower Manhattan around the 9/11 memorial, Wall Street, and then ended at the South Street Seaport.

Then on Easter Sunday, my roommate and I went into Manhattan to see the Easter Parade which consists of people dressing up in crazy Easter hats. There were some very interesting hats out!

This weekend, it was beautiful out so yesterday, my roommate and I went to Prospect Park and spent the afternoon sitting outside in the sun and enjoying the day.

I have one more week left in Ob/GYN and will be in the Ob clinic this week. Last week I was in the OR and got to see some pretty cool stuff. After my Ob/GYN rotation I have a week off before starting internal medicine. That's all for now. Love you all!
